Communication systems are presented in Chapter 2, including terrestrial and satellite systems, wireless services, antenna terminology, the Friis transmission formula, the radar equation, and Doppler radar. Thus, students learn about the systems using blocks of amplifiers, oscillators, mixers, filters, and so on. Students’ response has strongly supported this top-down approach.
